Artist Statement
Over the last ten years that I have been taking art seriously, I have noticed that I gravitate towards certain aesthetic principles when creating my works. No matter the subject of my art, I find a way to make it colorful, cute, and visually appealing. I have experimented with many different types of aesthetics, including indie, grunge, academia, pastel, fairy/cottage core, and more. I sincerely enjoy creating works that resemble sticker sheets and collages, and thrive when I am a fan of the subject matter that I am deriving inspiration from. Though, aside from fan art, I love to make pieces that appeal to my love of nature and the fall season. Much of this artwork can be found in my Inktober collection, which I have participated in for 6 years as of October 31st, 2023. Inktober is an annual art challenge in which participants create an ink-based artwork for every day in the month of October, emerging with 31 new pieces by Halloween. This challenge allows for all of my ideas surrounding the fall aesthetic and the Halloween vibes to come to fruition, and pushes me to use grayscale media, contrasting from my usual bright color palette. Often, after the challenge is over, I use my iPad Pro to create digital renderings of my favorite Inktober pieces, and this allows me to use color after the fact. Between my love of nature, personification, and aesthetic representation, my art continues to evolve year after year into a style I am truly proud of.
